Five on Friday

Joining in with Amy from Love Made my Home for five on friday, this week its Five crochet dishcloths! I know, I know, I’ve been banging on about my dishcloths for a while, but they are so much fun to make! Who’d have thought dishcloths and fun could be in the same sentence! I have been gaining confidence in the old tapestry crochet malarky and tried out a few new designs.

tapestry crochet dishcloths

These three I finally completed as a set for my mother in law’s birthday present, along with a little crochet heart sachet and some gorgeous little soaps and handcreams from L’Occitane.

I was trying to get a good photo of them on a beautiful sunny day over the paddock gate, but the photo looks a bit like I’m trying too hard to get a rustic effect and not succeeding. Hope you like the sunshine and green grass anyway.

tapestry crochet zig zag pattern

I worked out a little zig zag pattern and finished this one last weekend. I think I used too many colours though. The white edging helps tone it down a bit.

I decided to make this zig zag one with fatter rows and stuck to four less bright colours. Its coming along and I think it will be quite pretty with perhaps a pink border but undecided at the moment.

tapestry crochet spots

Out of all of them I think this spotty one is my favourite, despite its imperfections. Which one’s your fave?

Have a lovely weekend! Please go visit the other bloggers joining in this week.

  1. I like them all and the top three will make a lovely present. I think the spotty one is my fav though. I still say they are too lovely to do the dishes with. That sounds like a great present for your Mother In Law. Have a lovely weekend x

  2. I don’t think I could choose a favourite, they are all beautiful. I bet your Mother in Law will not use them because they are just too beautiful to get dirty 🙂 Have a lovely weekend. x

  3. I do love your pretty dishcloths. I make them, but they are very plain. Using variegated yarn helps add some color, but yours are so different! Have a special weekend. I’m going to go do my dishes.

  4. They’re fabulous. I like the spotty one and the diamond patterned one best. I bet your mother in law was thrilled with them, I wouldn’t want to use them, I’d keep them for show.

  5. These are very pretty, I’ll have to have a go at making one. Thanks for your comment on my blog, I think you have an excellent contact for some Wimbledon tickets there. 🙂

  6. I love your dishcloths and I love making them too, I haven’t tried the tapestry crochet yet but it’s on my to do list, I think I like the diamond one but then the zigzag is nice too haha they are all lovely it’s hard to pick a favourite, thank you for your visit and for your good wishes for my op. 🙂 xx

  7. These are such pretty dishcloths, it’s no wonder you’re enjoying making them! Much more enjoyable to wash the dishes when you can admire your handiwork at the same time 😉

  8. They’re all great. I love making dishcloths, although I call them facecloths and use them that way, but the pattern is probably the same. That tapestry crochet is looking good. x
